A short film about how Kenai Peninsula producers, fishers, and community partnerships helped local food systems adapt to meet heightened needs following compounding disasters, including earthquakes, fires, and the added pressures of COVID-19.
Over the course of the conference, conversations kept circling back to a central message, that “farm to school” isn’t just a program, it’s a relationship between students and their food, between schools and local producers, and between health, culture, and place.
Ellen and Robbi joined UAA ISER Staff in Bethel, Alaska, to learn about rural food supply chain challenges, as part of our new Regional Food Systems Partnership project.
The Alaska Food Policy Council (AFPC) was awarded a $485K USDA Agricultural Marketing Service grant through the Regional Food Systems Partnership (RFSP) program to support implementing and expanding a statewide initiative to better connect public and private resources to plan and develop Alaska’s food systems. This project, supported by a generous match from the Division of Agriculture, will launch in early 2025.
