Alaska Food Systems Network
The Alaska Food Systems Network is a hub for stakeholders across Alaska’s food systems, facilitating knowledge sharing, advocacy, and collective action to strengthen Alaska’s local food systems. The Network connects stakeholders, fosters partnerships, promotes collaboration, identifies advocacy and policy priorities, and promotes food systems information and research.
Components of the Network include:
- Facilitating gatherings, workshops, and conferences to connect, inform, and brainstorm solutions — like our Quarterly Gatherings and every 18-month Conferences
- Supporting statewide working groups to encourage community-driven solutions for food sovereignty, sustainability, policy recommendations, and more
- Hosting the Opportunities Portal — a collection of funding, employment, training, outreach, and other offerings from around the state and beyond
- Creating original food systems research and hosting partners’ resources
Working Groups and Committees
Contribute your expertise and curiosity by actively participating on a committee or working group to help AFPC move our statewide mission forward. This is an opportunity to learn more about the topics the AFPC is working on and is a pathway to becoming a governing board member. Board membership isn’t required though- help out as long as you’d like! Typically committees and working groups meet monthly via Zoom, along with occasional email communications.
