Our Farm Apprenticeships are one to two month field crew positions that immerse participants in all aspects of farming. This experiential program focuses on providing skills, inspiration and experience for participants interested in launching their own small-scale farm.
This seasonal, part-time opportunity offers 1 month and 2 month positions throughout the farming season (mid May-September). We will work with individuals to determine exact dates.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-12pm, with the possibility of additional afternoon work hours
Compensation: $15/hour
Position Overview: Participants will receive hands-on training and work alongside Calypso’s field crew for a minimum of 15 hours per week. You’ll be immersed in different aspects of small-scale farming and have opportunities for additional instruction on soil, biodiversity, farm planning, etc.
Qualifications:
- Serious interest in starting your own farm
- Ability to learn and work alongside others
- Prior farming experience is not required
Apprentices will need to have reliable transportation to the farm each day. The farm is located about 10 miles from Fairbanks. Public transportation is not available in our area and on-farm housing is not provided.
