Are you or someone you know interested in farming at small scales to feed local communities? Offbeet Farm is hiring help for summer 2026, and we’re looking for budding or aspiring farmers who want to see and experience a successful vegetable farm with a twist. You can commit to one or two days per week (8-16 hours/week), with an option for an additional 10+ hours/week helping a neighbor with a permaculture project. We ask for a minimum commitment of early May through late August, with the option to stay on through September. Yes, you’ll do some weeding, but you’ll also have a hand in bed preparation, planting, irrigation management, pest control, harvesting, and implementing year-2 of an ongoing garlic experiment. “With a twist?” you ask. Offbeet Farm doesn’t sell much of anything during the summertime, and nearly all our crops are destined for long-term winter storage. Stick around for September harvest, and you’ll take part in the harvesting and washing bonanza as we fill our storage cooler. Definitely an experience different from most market farms, but you’ll get some valuable insights on how a winter-oriented farm works. Offbeet Farm is a one-acre vegetable farm on the west side of Fairbanks specializing in storage crops for winter. The farm grows things like carrots, beets, cabbages, winter squash, and more for a winter CSA and sale through the Roaming Root Cellar and the Goldstream Winter Farmers Market.
