Cordova District Fishermen United (CDFU) is a 501(c)5 nonprofit corporation with a mission to strengthen the commercial fishing industry in the Prince William Sound region. Since 1935, we have represented fishermen and their families for thriving fisheries – fisheries that sustain regional ecosystems, communities, and ways of life. CDFU ensures all harvesters in the region are well-informed, resourced, and mobilized to affect positive change.

Job description

Position: Executive Director

Status: Full-time, exempt

Hours: 20-35 hours/week. This position works regular business hours but must be available some evenings or weekends to represent CDFU when circumstances arise.

Salary: $40,000-70,000/year

Location: Must be an Alaska resident. Qualified candidates based outside of Cordova will be considered. Remote work possibilities and some travel required.

Reports to: The Executive Director reports to the full Board of Directors but is singularly managed by the Board President.

Job Summary

The CDFU Executive Director is a full-time, exempt position responsible for the leadership and management of the organization. This position guides CDFU operations and support of fishermen members and the Area E fleet at large through political advocacy, organizing fishermen, education, and connection to resources.

The Executive Director will build upon a strong foundation to bring CDFU to its next level of impact. In addition to managing the daily operations of the organization, this position requires excellent interpersonal skills, and effective relationships with partners, and will work to enhance both the organization’s financial stability and the outlook for regional fisheries.
