This year’s Alaska Farm Bureau’s 2024 Alaska Agriculture Conference featured an inspiring keynote from Kendall Ballantine, owner of Central Park Farms in British Columbia. Sponsored by the Alaska Food Policy Council (AFPC)’s Regional Food Business Center, Kendall’s talk focused on how farmers can embrace new strategies to expand their markets—a vital conversation for growing our agricultural community.
AFPC just released a Request for Partnerships (RFP) to solicit applications from organizations or individuals to become Technical Assistance providers through Alaska’s Regional Food Business Center.
Representatives from various state and federal lending programs presented information on the types of loans, terms, eligibility requirements, and more. Additionally, they highlighted the use of mariculture activities and the benefits of leasing equipment and real estate. Support for beginning farmers was also discussed, with a focus on offering tailored solutions for long-term success.
We had partners travel across oceans and states to join us in Homer to discuss the evolution of our Regional Food Business Center. Read about our adventures and learnings together.
