Northwest Transition to Organic Partnership Program (NW TOPP)

The Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP) is a network assembled by the USDA’s National Organic Program to support transitioning and organic producers with mentorship and resources. TOPP is segmented into six regions that span the United States and territories working together to grow the network of organic producers. The NW TOPP region spans Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska, and Montana; with a focus on providing technical assistance, resource navigation, and outreach for transitioning and existing producers with the help of our partnerships. Mentorship:

The NW TOPP mentorship program builds connections between experienced organic producers and producers transitioning to organic, it supports the transition process, and creates a stronger network of organic producers across the country.

  • Experienced producers will be matched with producers transitioning to organic, and mentors will support the transitioning producer through the certification process.

  • NW TOPP will provide guidance and support for the mentorship, and mentors and transitioning producers will meet regularly on their own time either virtually or in person.

  • Mentors and transitioning producers will work together to set goals for mentorship and build communication tailored for their individual needs and preferences.
